Welcome to my blog! This is the first post in what I hope to be many on a topic that I have developed some knowledge in, middle school transformation. There is no shortage of opinions on what is needed to help change failing urban middle schools, but it is my goal to provide a perspective from a practitioner. I have been the principal of Middle School 219, a middle school in the South Bronx that is on the move. I have been the principal for the past four years and we have made some dramatic progress in a school that many had written off.
Currently we are embarking on a journey to bring our students and staff the technological access that will lead students into the 21st century with the tools they need to be successful.
I hope to share my insight as well as learn from others who participate in the work of improving the middle school experience for all students. An experience that will be enhanced through the implementation of current and pertinent technologies.
